One of the important paths to power is the ability to speak up! But how often do women speak? At high-level corporate settings, in public sphere/diverse social gatherings women rarely speak for themselves, hesitate to network proactively, rarely take initiative to mingle in unfamiliar groups, tend to avoid conflicts & are less confrontational. And, in the rare occasions when they do speak up, their voice is often treated with contempt or blatantly ignored. Why do women feel less confident to interrupt? Why do they hesitate to intervene more boldly in public settings and speak their minds in situations where status matters? We get two experienced women leaders to ‘speak up’ on this very ability, which is critical to creating a change where it is necessary. It is not only about developing women leaders’ individual capabilities but also fostering an ecosystem where their women team members feel empowered to speak up.
