iConnect: Knowledge Worker Automation Leveraging Robotics Process Automation
Schneider Electric has embarked on a journey to enable automation of knowledge worker tasks leveraging Robotics Process Automation (RPA). This journey started with “Basic” process automation to automate repetitive, manual, structured and logical tasks. Next, we are moving into Cognitive Automation wherein we also automate situational & decision oriented tasks. This transition is enabled by technologies such as Data lake, CMDB, Knowledge Management, NLP, OCR/ ICR & Machine Learning. We discuss the business values accrued from this initiative in terms of cost reduction, speed, quality, standardization, uptime, job satisfaction and improved decision making. We also discuss how RPA should evolve from back-office (HR, Finance & Accounting, IT/ Data Management) use cases to Supply Chain/ Logistics, Operations, Aftermarket/ Product Support, Engineering/ product development, and Customer support scenarios. Finally, we summarize some of the challenges of Automation and its impact on the workforce. Additionally, we also take you through our journey of exploring avenues in which we can change the way factories step up using the power of artificial intelligence. Condition Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance and Smart Engineering are some areas that we shall deep dive into. Schneider Electric is determined to build offers that provide smart manufacturing experience to our customers.
