iConnect: From Sand to Silicon – Journey of a Chip
Have you wondered what it takes to create a silicon wafer from sand? Development of silicon is one of the riskiest, costliest, and most technically complex feats in industry. We work in fabs and factories to manufacture chips that go into everything from supercomputers, AI chips to the world’s thinnest tablet to cupcake ATMs. It takes a special language called Hardware Description Language to make these compute engines – which goes through a RTL flow and is converted to an image that can then be put on this Silicon wafer. Undoubtedly software plays a key role in showcasing the capabilities of the underlying hardware. You need great applications and frameworks to come up with usage scenarios that enrich our day to day lives.
